Disaster strikes.
Earlier in 2005, two dramatic events occurred, both on the same day, February 14th - Valentine’s Day. She got engaged to a criminal barrister in Dorset who was a widower with a son (12) and daughter (15). Thinking fate had dealt her a kind hand she threw herself wholeheartedly into the relationship. Perhaps the surprise or shock of their announcement (as they had only met in November) affected her Father as he had a massive stroke and died six weeks later and with it, the engagement.
Dad had caddied for me for 17 years and had seen “the good, bad and downright ugly”. Any parent in every sport will understand this. Particularly relevant in golf when you are right there in the thick of it - standing side by side.
London Ladies Foursomes (LLF): 55 mile radius around London, clubs enter their top two players and off scratch (like the pros), go into knockout. In 2025, 41 clubs entered this prestigious tournament started in 1992.
Record still held in 2026: Sarah won, representing The Berkshire g.c. five consecutive times (1996-1999) with three different partners.
